The Model OWM2 is a large and refined handcrafted nightstand (or end table) with integrated storage drawer, meticulously constructed from the very finest solid English quarter-sawn oak. Architectural in form and quietly imposing in presence, these pieces embody a disciplined minimalism that places material, proportion and craftsmanship at the centre of the design.
The overall silhouette is intentionally clean and restrained, allowing the precision of the construction and the natural character of the timber to speak for themselves.
A feature of the design is the exposed mitred key dovetail jointing – a skilled cabinet making detail that openly celebrates the handmade nature of the piece. Rather than concealing the construction, the joinery becomes a central visual element, quietly showing both structural integrity and craftsmanship.
The front framework is further refined with an angular chamfered edge that runs precisely around the perimeter, softening the bold geometry while catching the light to accentuate the architectural lines.
Each drawer is entirely handcrafted using traditional hand-cut dovetail construction in fine quarter-sawn oak, ensuring exceptional durability and longevity. The drawer interiors and structural components are created with the same attention to detail, reflecting a commitment to true craftsmanship throughout.
Only selected English quarter-sawn oak is used in the construction of the Model OWM2. Chosen for its remarkable stability, strength and distinctive grain structure.
Quarter-sawn oak possesses an elegance that becomes increasingly rich with age. The telltale medullary rays are characteristic of this method of cutting. They create a subtle visual texture that changes beautifully under shifting natural light, giving each piece a unique and truly organic identity.
Traditional cabinet making displays the unmistakable tactile quality of hand-built furniture. Slight nuances and individual characteristics are embraced as part of the authenticity of the work.
The pieces are hand-finished in a highly durable eco-friendly oils that protect and enhance the natural depth and tone of the timber.
Custom dimensions and bespoke adaptations are available upon request. Model OWM2 is also available in solid English ash and American black walnut, each offering its own distinct tonal qualities and presence.
Our work is driven by a deep respect for materials, craftsmanship and architectural form. We combine traditional craftsmanship, modernist architectural influences to create furniture that is tactile, idiosyncratic and enduring. Every piece is produced using the finest available timbers and materials, with an emphasis on small-scale production and limited editions rather than mass manufacture.
The result is furniture with genuine individuality - pieces that possess both sculptural form and functional purpose, designed not only to serve a practical role within a space, but to become lasting objects of character and permanence for generations to come.
