Our Architectural Maunsell table is a bold and sculptural piece of handcrafted furniture, designed and handmade in England using traditional furniture making techniques.
Loosely inspired by the iconic Maunsell sea forts that stand defiantly off the English coastline, the design expresses strength and honest construction through its distinctive architectural form. Crafted entirely from prime English ash, each table is individually bench-made by our skilled craftspeople in very small numbers.
The substantial hand-turned legs pass cleanly through the tabletop, where they are jointed flush with the upper surface, proudly displaying the structure of the piece rather than concealing it. This visible construction detail celebrates the craftsmanship invested in every table while creating a striking visual across the design.
English ash has been carefully selected for its exceptional strength, grain and warm natural colour, making it ideally suited to the robust character of the piece. Each table is hand-finished in a highly durable, environmentally friendly oil that enhances the beauty of the timber while providing lasting protection and a wonderfully tactile finish.
