Handcrafted scorched English oak side table.
Taking inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement this striking contemporary design can inhabit many a style of interior space. The quartersawn oak undergoes a highly skilful scorching technique which requires many very gentle applications of flame until the surface is perfectly blackened. The jet black finish is contrasted with the inset of wedged construction joints and a shallow dish of Yew.
Yakisugi / Shou Sugi ban - This ancient traditional charring process was originally, and specifically, for Japanese cypress wood and involves deliberately charring its surface to elicit the beautiful black and ultra-durable finish.
Customised/alternative versions can be created to order within practical parameters.
